Prayer

The idea for this film continues to evolve as it is still in pre-production. Jonathan Skurnik's original idea was to film the journey of deepening his prayer practice by apprenticing with five people with rich prayer practices. He now plans to focus on the premise that prayer is the most powerful force there is for social change. This is a belief held by every spiritual leader with whom he has studied or read, and yet it remains a mystery to him how it actually works.

This feature-length documentary will attempt to discover how the practice affects social change by profiling past and present struggles for social change in which spiritual leaders were and are using prayer as one of their primary tools.

The projected budget for Prayer is $200,000. Jonathan Skurnik is hoping for a possible theatrical and television premiere in 2006 or 2007.
