Hartley Film Foundation awards grants for compelling character-driven documentaries that illuminate the impact of religions on today's global issues. The Foundation provides support through seed grants and fiscal sponsorship. The Foundation does not provide production, finishing or outreach grants.
Hartley also provides filmmakers with fiscal sponsorship services. Included in those services is the opportunity for one-on-one consultations with an outreach and communication strategist who harnesses the power of film to spark social change. This strategist provides expert advice to film directors and producers in regard to potential partnerships and outreach campaigns.
To apply for a grant, please send a proposal via email or post that includes the following:

- Target audience and distribution strategy
- Advisory board, if applicable

Please also enclose a sample of or link to past work, which must be a documentary. Hartley works on a rolling submission basis, so there are no deadlines.
